STITCH: A Journey

AFFORDABLE ART FAIR  – DROP IN WORKSHOP

Led by internationally renowned Lebanese artist Aya Haidar, in collaboration with charity partner Karmabank.

As part of the Affordable Art Fair‘s Women’s History Month programming, Aya invites visitors to take part in STITCH: A Journey – a collaborative stitching workshop that weaves together personal stories and shared narratives. Whether your journey is an emotional experience, one of family migration, or something else entirely, this workshop welcomes all ideas, ages, and reflections. Stay for a few minutes or a few hours – each stitch will add to a growing communal tapestry.

After the fair, the collective tapestry will be auctioned. Proceeds will support Karmabank’s initiatives for communities affected by displacement and injustice – ensuring that every stitch becomes part of something even greater.

Aya Haidar’s work uncovers silenced narratives, exploring themes of loss, migration, memory, labour, domesticity, and womanhood.

Her art is held in prestigious collections, including the Guggenheim Museum, the Jameel Collection, and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

This workshop is part of Karmabank’s contribution to this year’s fair – a fantastic charity driving sustainable change for communities affected by war, disability, and gender-based injustice. Its RAW (Refugee Art Works) showcase will feature artworks by Aya Haidar, alongside other female refugee artists and artists affected by war.

Support them by stopping by their stand (B12) at the fair or adding a £5 donation when purchasing a ticket online here
