STITCH: A Journey

RAW Gallery Frieze Week Popup  – DROP IN WORKSHOP October 18th & 19th, 1-7pm.

Join and continue the community quilt, designed by internationally renowned Lebanese artist Aya Haidar, in collaboration with RAW Gallery/Karmabank

STITCH: A JOURNEY was originally created and led by Aya Haidar part of the Affordable Art Fair‘s Women’s History Month programming, and we are now offering our RAW Gallery Frieze week Visitors the opportunity to add their part to this continuing art project.

STITCH: A Journey is a collaborative stitching workshop that weaves together personal stories and shared narratives – the “Dialogues” that knit us together. Whether your journey is an emotional experience, one of family migration, or something else entirely, this workshop welcomes all ideas, ages, and reflections. Stay for a few minutes or a few hours – each stitch will add to a growing communal tapestry.

After Frieze Week, the collective tapestry will continue to bloom with community contributions, each surprising and beautiful addition connecting diverse humans together with the general ethos to “Be Human” – ensuring that every stitch becomes part of something even greater.

RAW Gallery is a social enterprise, part of Karmabank’s initiatives for individuals affected by displacement and injustice. DIALOGUES WITH A WORLD ON FIRE – an exhibition featuring 26 plus international artists, foundations and galleries  – is Karmabank’s initiative to engage artists, gallery attendees, and workshop participants in a shared effort to respond with hope and solutions to burning issues facing humanity.
