How do I join in?
Get creative and draw, paint, collage, photograph, sketch, sculpt, knit, sew….use your fingers, use found objects, recycle, upcycle…Your creativity is limitless!
Can anyone take part?
Yes! Anyone, anywhere, anyhow, schools, cities, refugee camps…this year, with our world facing many simultaneous challenges, we ask you to share your views of yourself and your world, to “unpeel” yourself, in three new categories.
SUSTENANCE
What sustains you? Your favourite food, passion for something or someone, love for your happy place? What would you like more of in your life?
COMMUNITY
What does community mean to you? Is it your family, friends or team, or your part of the world? What does your ideal community look like?
ME
What does it mean to be you? How do you see yourself, how do others see you, how would you like to be seen?
Where can I get creative?
We encourage families, local groups and organisations to hold Appeeling Art making workshops, so we can open entries to anyone, anywhere – using images to share our hopes and dreams for a kinder, happier and healthier world.

The competition culminates on the 15th of August during National Allotments Week at a special community two-course supper and arts & crafts making event at a Community Food Hub.

Appeeling Art is part of Karmabank’s mission to use creativity to increase our community’s health and happiness, and to listen to the people who know best how to make the world a better place for all: YOU.
More About The Competition
Appeeling Art started as a means to improve our community’s wellbeing through eating and growing more healthy food. The competition is held each year in partnership with a local community kitchen and foodbank, and during National Allotments Week, which includes allotment visits and opportunities to learn how to grow your own healthy food, and how to cook it well. We invite community partners such as supermarkets, local councils, garden centres and local health organisations to support us each year.
This year, we hope our new categories for Sustain, Community, and Me, will ‘unpeel’ the changes YOU would like to see in your communities, and what changes you hope for YOURSELF.
